Güneydoğu Anadolu Bölgesi

Türkiye’nin güneyinde bulunan Güneydoğu Anadolu bölgesi bazı bölgelerinde karasal, bazı bölgelerinde ise Akdeniz ikliminin görüldüğü bir iklime sahiptir. Bu iklim çeşitliliği de birçok tarım ürünü çeşitliliğini beraberinde getirir.

Bölge halkı başlıca tarım, sanayi ve hayvancılık faaliyetleriyle ilgilenir. Son yıllarda hayata geçirilen Güneydoğu Anadolu Projesi bölgeyi tarım açısından elverişli hale getirmiştir ve yetersiz yağış yüzünden yetişmeyen ürünlerin yetiştirilmesine olanak sağlamıştır.

Buğday, nohut, susam, zeytin, incir, kırmızı mercimek başlıca tarım ürünleridir. Ayrıca Diyarbakır karpuzu ve Antep fıstığı bölgenin en özel ürünleridir.

Arap kültürüne yakınlık ve hayvancılık faaliyetlerinden dolayı bu bölge etli ve baharatlı yiyeceklere sahip olan zengin bir mutfak kültürüne sahiptir. Ayrıca dünyaca ünlü tatlı baklava bu bölgemize aittir.
