Aegean Region

The Aegean Region is surrounded by Marmara Region in the north, Central Anatolia Region in the east, Mediterranean Region in the south and Aegean Sea in the west. The region with the longest coastline takes its name from the Aegean Sea. Tourism, agriculture, port trade and industrial activities are carried out in the region.

The region, where both maritime tourism and cultural and historical tourism, hosted many civilizations, the foundation of today’s science and philosophy was laid here. So there are many ancient cities and museums in the region.

In the region, which mostly shows the Mediterranean climate, inland continental climate is also observed. Thanks to its temperate climate in all seasons, this region is very suitable for agriculture and many different products such as olives, grapes, wheat, barley, figs, tobacco and citrus fruits grow.

The cultivation of various agricultural products was also reflected in the Aegean cuisine, and especially vegetable dishes, especially olive oil, have great importance.  Olive oil is recommended for light and healthy diet, is seen as the secret of the long and healthy life of the people of the region.
