Marmara

The Marmara region is one of the rare places that have land on both Asian and European continents. The name of the region is taken from the Marmara Sea, which comes from the word ‘Marmaros’ which means marble in Greek because it contains a large amount of marble.

Turkey’s industrial and commercial district Marmara includes most important city, Istanbul,  considering population, history and socio-cultural heritage. In addition, the Dardanelles and the Bosphorus, which have great importance in the history scenes, put the region in a strategic position.

The climate prevailing in the Marmara region does not have a specific name, since its location as bridge between the Aegean, Central Anatolia and the Black Sea regions, so the climate of all three regions (Mediterranean, continental and Black Sea climates) is effective here.

The cuisine of this region, which this region has an important place in the production of wheat, sugar beet, corn and sunflower, offers more variety. This cuisine, which includes light olive oil dishes from Aegean cuisine; full-grain, meat-based dishes from Central Anatolia and various fish dishes from the Marmara and Black Sea waters, addresses both the eye and palate.
