Why SUNTAT is committed to sustainability and social responsibility?
The principles of sustainability and social commitment are firmly anchored within the SUNTAT Group of Companies and are directly linked with each other. The careful handling of people, nature, environment and resources is reflected in many SUNTAT products, operational decisions and developments as well as in the assumption of social responsibility.
SUNTAT has been producing a comprehensive range of organic products since 2009, which has since been successfully marketed. Less is more, because only pesticide-free raw materials are used and gently processed. These products are under the constant control of the BIO Certification Institute “ECOCERT”. All production sites in Turkey are also audited by independent institutions such as IFS-Food, TÜV Nord or “BRC Certification Body”.The use of wastewater treatment plants in the Turkish production facilities, the active assistance in reforestation in Sungurlu (Turkey), the installation of photovoltaic systems on the roof of the Mannheim headquarters and on the EGETAD building in Turgutlu / Izmir are further examples of sustainable development entrepreneurial activity. SUNTAT already received the “Green Logistics” certificate in 2012 and has meanwhile further optimized its production and operational processes in the sense of environmentally friendly and resource-efficient logistics processes through the commissioning of the new logistics center at the Mannheim headquarters in 2015. For many years, SUNTAT has paid special attention to social commitment. A commitment that is also long-term in order to make it sustainable for everyone involved. This applies in particular to education. Above all, children and adolescents with and without a migration background are being supported in order to enable them to participate in education, culture and sport in the interests of equal opportunities. About the non-profit organization SUNTAT Bildungsbrücke e. In this regard, the company implements numerous projects – both in Mannheim and Turkey -, awards scholarships, promotes schools with donations in kind and money, and promotes intercultural understanding. This too happens under holistic aspects. For example, at the Astrid Lindgren Primary School in Mannheim-Hochstätt, a project has been established via the Bildungsbrücke that is aimed equally at parents and children. 75 percent of all-day elementary school students have a migration background. The once-a-week “ALiS parents ‘meeting” aims to help strengthen parents’ parenting skills, inform them and at the same time integrate them more into the social fabric of the school.
The project consists of many individual components, which are aimed directly at the children. For example, tuition in German and mathematics, sports activities, admissions to the cinema, singing together, reading days and a healthy breakfast once a week are offered to the students. A model that the SUNTAT Bildungsbrücke has developed in cooperation with the Wirtschaftsjunioren Mannheim / Ludwigshafen for the intercultural Waldorf School Mannheim-Herzogenried is making fit for working life. Starting in the eighth grade, the students will be given lectures to gain insights into various job profiles and coaching for a successful application. As early as 1995, Mustafa Baklan, together with friendly entrepreneurs, founded the Association of Turkish Entrepreneurs Rhein-Neckar e. V. (TID). Based in Mannheim he directs his offer of Turkish entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs in the entire Rhine-Neckar region. The association offers small and medium-sized enterprises comprehensive technical support for competent corporate management and sustainable economic success. At the same time the TID wants to support the network work. One focus of the DTI is the creation of international exchange programs in education and higher education, including the possibility of acquiring dual qualifications and conducting internships. The focus is on the exchange and understanding between Germans and Turks living in Germany. Young people should be able to exchange ideas both interculturally and scientifically, with the aim of attracting talented young professionals from both countries and opening up the German education market for students, young people and young adults from Turkey.
